Innsbruck-Igls in Austria
Resort Guide
The Olympic resort of Igls is a typical picturesque small and quiet Tyrolean village just 5 kms from Innsbruck and it is connected to the city's tram network. It has its own local ski area on the Patscherkofel, which rises to 2245m, but is also well placed for exploring the other areas in the Innsbruck region: Neustift, Fulpmes and Stubai, Axamer Lizum and Seefeld. Igls itself is quiet and relaxed village with a few tea shops and small family run gasthofs and pensions. For visiting groups or families with non skiers this is a fair option as it is easy to get into Innsbruck each day, which is a gateway to many other different areas.
Accomodation & Après Ski
Igls has a few hotels and tea and coffee shops. The biggest hotel is the five star Schlosshotel and Sporthotel Igls. The latter has a disco and good restaurant. The Olympic bob run is also here and is open to the public. With the very easy access in to Innsbruck apres ski, eating out and other accommodation options are greatly increased.
